Those are all instant message programs.

YIM = Yahoo instant messenger
ICQ = I Seek You
MSMN = Microsoft Messenger

I believe you can't disable that in the account settings even if you are a admin, but I can't say for sure. (I lost my rights so i'm not able to check) There are quite a few members who do share this information. I myself agree with you, it's unnessesary so disable it.
