View Full Version : Crash problem
I have started to get a problem that is anoying, i am sitting and playing bf3, for a little while, where the computer, just turns off. I mean complete shut down.
The only way i have found to get it back up, and i am very noob at this, is to dis- and reconnect all powercables (inside the puter) to cpu, gpu and motherboard.
I had a mate put in a new power supply and Graphicscard, about 6 months ago or soo (Flugger recommended the parts).
The puter is kinda old, but works fine, mostly, soo i need feedback on what can be tried to solve this problem. I am kinda mobile (in souther norway) and is willing to bring computer to a person i can trust for a visual and physical examination, if you get my drift

I had that problem when i runned 2 hdd:s on the same kabel from the power supply. I took one kabel to each hhd from the powersupply and never had a problem after that.
hmm that could be investegated
Well it had to turn out this way, when you let a noob baboon テつ*with 12 thumbs (mysellf) into your case, It ended like a elephant in a china store.
I need now a new cpu (atleast)
Soo i wont be playing with you guys for a while, i have set up my old slooooooow computer, soo i get online, now the search for a guy kind enough to help with the purchase and the essembly start

Could be that something is overheating.
Dont think soo. I have monitored my computer with speedfan, the last days and the highest temp. i have gotten is 49 in my cpu.
Now that cpy is physically broken, soo i am looking to replaceing it.

There are no stores in Norway that have a cpu for u.
They are out of stock.
I recomend: http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=649105
But I will look into my old pc part`s.. See if I can find some gold.. hehe
Oki, that would be nice.
what you suggest is a new motherboard, isnt it ?

As your motherboard is to old also your cpu,and small upgarde is in place.
You have a good Graphic card
And also a good PSU.
So I think this is a nice upgarde.
Yeah, that is true.
I have only two concerns:
1. Will it fit in my case ??
2: will i be able to fit it myself ?
3: if not, what to do then ?

Well, 9k is a bit much, specially, when i am wondering how to raise the money for fluggers option.
I actually have that cam, soo that could prolly be sorted.
What would the option be if i followed hangovers first suggestion ??
9k Holy ****, that ain't in euro's i hope? :P.
Also Champ, how did you manage to break your CPU while switching hdd cables may i ask? (i assume you were trying the hdd thing)

How do you guys know its not the power supply?
BF3 takes ALOT of juice. My 550 watt caused the same problem, replaced it with a 750 watt no more issues.
His PSU maybe starting to short out.
Download http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ and check you CPU temp when you play BF3 and enable logging.
Very few problems cause a complete shutdown.
CPU over heating. (I'd say CPU but your fine until BF3)
GPU struggling for power. (I'd say GPU but your fine until BF3)
MB fried. ツ*(I'd say MB but your fine until BF3)
PSU went bad. ツ*<<< This is my guess.
RAM bad stick. (I'd say RAM but your fine until BF3)
Only one other thing I can think of is your MB or another circuit board in your PC is touching the case and grounding/sparking out.
Have you tried re-seating your graphic card?
reseatingpresent participle of reツキseat (Verb)
Verb: Cause to sit in a new position.

Every thing you have listed Andrew, may be a likely cause of computer malfunctions. The problem is that Champ does not believe he have the knowledge required to check the computer. You are absolutely right that BF3 will make completely different demands on the computer than before. It happened to myself out to the computer shut itself off after about 15 minutes of play. There was the PSU that was unable to feed the two hard drives with power on the same cable. When I was using two separate cables to the hard drives so it worked well. I have a 650W Corsair, which is one year old. I think it's PSU who canツエt feed enough. It is new so it should be possible to get a new one at warranty or just buying a new but more powerful.
i went with fluggers suggestion. i think i hava a psu same size or bigger then yours andrew. テつ*nuu, the cpu got broken, when i got the "smart" idea to clean it.
i hope i get the pick up today, and then i will see if i can manage to ensemble it. hopefully i can get some cam help.

Send me a pm if you want help. We can build it in slow motion so nothing goes wrong.
I was lucky to get some help from my sibling here at my parents house, but we ran into a unfortunate problem, soo the build is on a hold until tomorrow, since me needed some spare parts.
but i might take you up on it later

Welll ?? Where are you ? テつ*:)
the build came to a stop, we had it all done (we thought), but when we tested it, it did not turn on. My builder was tired, soo we took a break, soo i wont be back online until late saturday or soo, maybe not even then, then i would need you guys help, then i will have to look at it myself, and get help from others.
think flugger need a small vacation down at my place :P

Hard to say what whent wronge.. Hope ya fix it today Champ テつ*:D
She have kinda, but my coolmaster seem like a more advanced case then she was used, it seemed like the powersupply was not connected to the case, if you understand, soo the on button or the button for incase leds did not work. If anybody have any experience with it, i would be glad for some input.
Or if some experienced builder want to come visit, or i could come visit, i could do that too

You've probably turned the cabel contacts in the wrong direction. Look at the drawing on the motherboard that's in the manual.
Make pictures! explains more than a thousand words etc. etc.
Yeah, something like that, but last night it was late, and i wanted home, soo i am not in the same place as the build, i will be tomorrow, then i am bringing it home, working or not, and then we will see
my builder says there are no drawings to be found in the manuals, but suspect there are some of the small tiny one pin wires that are not connected in the right place.
Soo if i post wich case i have i recon it takes you geniuses like 30 minutes to find a color 3d connection sheet ?

With the Mothetboard there is always with some photos of where the pins go..
And there is also some letters on the motherboard and the pins so u can see where they fit テつ*:D
She says she cant find it.

So where are you ??? We are waiting for you in Metro at B :-)
I hope your back soon Champ, テつ*TS isnt quite the same without your rage quits :D
At B ?+ Why ? I am never at B, to much explosives.
joke a side.
My builder did not suceed. The "new" computer, is now going trough a extreme makeover with the "gay patrol" of computers (read a profesional computer builder). He says, either i have gotten a malfunction motherboard, or my psu is either to weak (550 watt) or it is broken, most likely the psu. He is to order and install this component, re isntall windows, and then i get it back. テつ*I am at the moment, without computer, i am typing on a public in a office now.
I hope to ba back soon, sitting around playing on my ps2 makes me insane
