Hi all

I have BF3 premium now and I going to building a new PC ready for BF4 too.

I would be grateful if someone could check it over to see if there are any incompatibilities, or if anything should be upgraded. ÂÂ*

From looking at all the specs and things I think that I will be getting pretty solid performance for BF3 and other similar titles.

The specs are as follows :

CPU: AMD FX 4300 Black Edition Quad Core Processor AM3+

Think that Caveman can tell you much more about this.

Depending from money amount you are willing to trow away on PC you can get nice rig.

Personally would recommend AMD graphic cards. Had 2600,4850,6850 and now 2x7850 and all where great but cheaper then Nvidia.

Motherboard looks Ok. I use GA-990FXA-D3

Power supply try to get something bigger so you can use it in future. Recommend Coller Master Silent Pro M2 series.

Ok few things to note
Get a HD7870 XT. The XT versions have the GPU of a 7950 but only cost 200 bucks. Nothing beats those things at that pricerange. Overclockers.co.uk had some, I think Scan aswel,, you should be able to get your hands on one of those, but remember get the XT version, Sapphire and Club3d made one.
Like this one:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-312-SP
In general though, if you stay under 250 bucks with your GPU, get AMD. If you want to go over 250 bucks, get a 660TI, even though the 7870 XT comes extremely close to the 660TI on stock speeds and passes it with a little overclock. But for almost a 100 bucks less.

The AMD Piledriver CPU's are really made for alot of cores, their quadcores don't perform so well, I'd highly recommend you either get
A:
The FX 6 core , or 8 core
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-338-AM
or
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-336-AM
Personally i'd fully go with the 8 core since that ones keep up nicely with the i5s but a 6 core would work.
B:
Get a IvyBridge build (Intel)
Something like this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-404-IN
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-201-MS&tool=5

Nice ram, good choice there
Good motherboard aswell, if you go AMD thats an excellent choice.

About the powersupply, what brand/certification is it?
A Bad-brand 550 watt is infinitely worse than a Corsair or Seasonic one, powersupply is a really important part nobody should skip money on. So could you please post the brand/model of that aswell :)
If you want to make sure you don't need a new powersupply for the next 7 years or so I would get this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-095-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084
Or the 750 watt version of that.

Now I listed you all this stuff, but it would be nice if you could mention a budget, so i know what to work with :P

Cheers

Not sure on the PSU brand, will have to bear that in mind, looking to spend about £500 tops.

Just a note on the Nvidia gtx 660 it comes with assassins creed 3 , and Metro: Last night , which is quite attractive. ÂÂ*also maybe I can go down the SLI route in the future.

I am told that the Nvidia is more stable on BF3 and will get a higher FPS, seen this in a couple of bench marks too, but the more stable drivers are also attractive.

The card also needs a display port or mini display port as I am using my Imac for the display!

In that case, those 2 games could save you 50 bucks each. If you really want them go for it. 660 is not a bad card. All cards run battlefield 3. Â*If you buy hardware it's better to look to the broad picture instead of a specfic game. under 250 bucks Â*AMD still is king, their unstable drivers have been solved ages ago, thats and old argument. I think both cards have those connections available.

Anyway, games etc, get the 660 then yes, also solid choice , SLI is always an option.
Only things to check are
A:
CPU, i still highly suggest you get a 6 core, maybe even the 8 core if you can afford that
B:
Powersupply indeed keep that in mind
and lastly ,do you already have a case? Otherwise you forgot to put that in :)

EDIT:
XFX makes really good powersupplies and cheap too. They are made in the same factory as Seasonic so they are very nice quality, except you don't pay for the brandname, which makes them alot cheaper

Yeah , case is sorted, I have swapped out the CPU for the one you recommended the sixe core one, but the 6 core version as it draws 95W opposed to 125W , will be on BF3 with in the next couple of weeks I think.

Thanks for the advice, I am going to go with the PSU you recommended, I am more than sure it will be up to everything!!!

No problem,
yea 750 watt should be enough for this easily and also for another 660
I am not sure what you mean with 95 watt opposed to 125 watt?

I would still recomend a 7870 XT, it has mini displayport, way better multi monitor support. And las but not least with the new never settle bundle you will get BF4 for free.
